THINKER DAY 

Kinder thru Sixth Grade.

Offered MONDAY, TUESDAY, or WEDNESDAY. In these six classes, your student will write and illustrate a volume of history.

  • AMERICAN HISTORY with Art Skills – Hear the story of history while you illustrate your creative portfolio!
  • GEOGRAPHY of the United States – Maps
  • SCIENCE of and in the Colonial and Early Period of America
  • FINE ART – American Arts & Crafts Movements 
  • READING & WRITING – The Colonial Primer – plus HANDWRITING in Calligraphy (Famous Historical Quotes)
  • PHYSICAL EDUCATION – Outdoor Organized Colonial Sports & Drills

BOOKS FOR REQUIRED THINKER DAY HOMEWORK:

  • Story of the World Book 3 – Early Modern Period & Workbook
  • A CHILD’s FIRST BOOK OF American History BY EARL SCHENCK MIERS, ILLUSTRATED BY JAMES DAUGHERTY, Available from Beautiful Feet Books or Reading Resources.

Theme: The American Farmers Life, The Little House on the Prairie Series

  • ARTS AND CRAFTS – Home Economics & Handicrafts of the Little House on the Prairie Series.
  • AMERICAN LANDSCAPE PAINTING – Paint the National Parks and Monuments of America in Watercolor.
  • MATH & MONEY – Economics in Early America. All students in this class will participate in a Spring Colonial Fair. 
  • BOOK CLUB & CREATIVE WRITING – Based on the Little House Books
  • THEATER  This class will perform a play with an American Historical theme. 
  • ORGANIZED HISTORICAL GAMES & MUSIC

Offered MONDAY, TUESDAY, or WEDNESDAY.

  • HISTORY & GEOGRAPHY – WRITE & ILLUSTRATE your History of Colonial America with Maps and Timeline. 
  • AMERICAN LITERATURE Reading & Socratic Discussion of some of the great books found in classic American literature.
  • COMPOSITION – Handwriting Skills thru writing famous quotes in Calligraphy, plus Creative Writing & Historical Narration skills. 
  • PERFORMANCE SKILLS – Voice, Theater & Speech
  • SPANISH – Foundations of Foreign Language
  • AMERICAN HISTORICAL TOUR  – Basics of Travel Planning, including budgeting. 
  • PHYSICAL EDUCATION – Outdoor Organized Colonial Sports & Drills
  • COLONIAL ENTREPRENEURSHIP – Participation in the Terra Arts Spring Colonial Faire

JUNIOR HIGH REQUIRED BOOKS:

In addition to the elementary level books: The Story of Liberty & Sweet Land of Liberty by Charles Coffin & various classic literature books. TBD
