THY MEDIEVAL EXPERIENCE

THINKER DAY

Drop your student off one day a week to “Experience” the Medieval World in our LIVING HISTORY program.

We will divide the enrolled students into five groups. Each group (village) is limited to 25 students in this "Terra Style" (Project Based Learning) course. In our 30 sessions, your student will address a real-world problem, develop its solution, and present their answer using the skills they acquire. PBL is the act of learning about different subjects simultaneously. This is achieved by guiding students to accomplish a creative goal. Our goal is to write and illustrate a volume of Medieval History. In it, your student can record their insights about the nature of the human experience. Your student will meet for five core subjects in one day and is welcome to come to our learning center dressed as a medieval princess, king, knight, or serf!

FIVE CORE SUBJECTS:

History with ART- meet the crucial figures that move nations. Discover the beliefs, traditions, and passions that motivated those individuals. Beginning Drawing - our history is taught with art. Every student will master the skill of drawing. We start with beginning-level instruction for all grade levels.

Science - the natural world opens up to us as we discover the things the Medieval Scientists struggled to comprehend. Astronomy, anatomy, agriculture are only the a's of our adventure.

Great Books - classical literature. Join us for a Socratic discussion. READ, READ, READ with us!

Geography - we will learn the history of geographic discovery as well as games and crafts from around the world.

Fine Art – Medieval Art is the foundation of all of art history, with its techniques, forms, and subject matter continuing to influence the art of today. You will make representative copies of great classical art in class using time-honored classical skills.

We assign weekly homework and will provide you with a comprehensive yearly lesson plan that will provide you with the framework for success as a homeschool family.

MONDAY, TUESDAY & WEDNESDAY will be the same content for each day.  Please register for only one of these days.  FRIDAY will be DOER DAY. Your student will participate in different hands on creative activities.

__________________________________________________________________________________

Learning about medieval history and culture is fun for kids of all ages, even the younger ones!

Your TK & K learner will enjoy a Good Morning Welcome filled with singing and storytime. Each week picture books will be read and discussed to spark a life-long interest in reading. Month by month, we will enjoy seasons and their colors, holidays, and influential people. Together we will count and sort and learn about shapes and colors, numbers and letters and calendars and clocks.

Each week we will study a person, place, or thing that reflects our Medieval Timeline and a Science Idea of the day. We will learn about medieval culture and its customs and people through books, art, crafts, and games.

This will be a day of hands-on fun where your student will have the opportunity to participate in science experiments, create a take-home craft, and learn about art! Students will make new friends while enjoying lunch and outdoor recess together.

This class will complement Thy Medieval Experience with a young learner focus. If your student turns 5 by the first day of class, you may enroll. Your six year old should join the older student experience. We will divide the group into two classes of 15 students.
